After shaves can be lotions, balms or even a gel.  They are designed to calm, moisturize and heal your skin from the aggressive nature of shaving.  Many times after shaving, your skin can be dry and irritated.  An after shave prepares  you for the next shave by speeding up your skin’s healing process.
