With dandruff, you’ll see large, greasy flakes fall onto your shoulders, and your scalp could be red and itchy. It can be treated with either an anti-dandruff or prescription-strength shampoo.

Dry scalp, on the other hand, includes powdery flakes when you brush or wash your hair, and your scalp might feel tight. It can be a result of anything from product buildup to an underlying health issue. Many people find relief by using conditioning treatments that focus on the scalp.

It’s important to not use anti-dandruff shampoo on a dry scalp, as it can dry out the scalp further.

Well, personally I feel that 2-in-1 shampoos/conditioners are not for everyone.

Here’s why:

Shampoos are designed to remove oil from the hair and scalp, leaving a clean surface for the conditioner to come in and replace those oils lost. So even with this advancement in technology, it’s hard to believe that these 2 steps can be done “well” in just 1.

Will your hair get clean and conditioned using a 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner?

Sure it will. But, proper balance is important especially for someone that suffers from an oily or dry scalp.

So here’s what you do…

If you have normal hair and scalp conditions, and you absolutely love your brand of 2-in-1 that has surprisingly helped you get to work an extra 5 minutes earlier…continue using it. But, I would advise you to purchase a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner seperately to use from time to time, to keep you hair and scalp in proper balance.

However, if you suffer from dry scalp, or an overly oily scalp, stick with the independent bottles, specific to your hair and scalp needs.

* This topic and more, can be found in my most recent interview with Mens Health Magazine (click here!).

Another month has come and gone, but the one good thing I always seem to look forward to is the opportunity to review another great product! This month I decided to stay with the theme of hair grooming, and found a great shampoo, conditioner and a daily hydrator all within the same line for your enjoyment.

So without further adieu…please welcome Frederick Benjamin grooming!

All three items are packed with 4 natural oils: Spearmint, Nettle, Clove and Hemp Seed. So, forget the coffee! The combination of these 4 oils, create a whirlwind of aromas that not only wake you up in the morning, but tingles just enough to feel like it is massaging your scalp!

And yes, if these products are tingling your scalp…they are working!

Shampoo – Invigorating Cleanser- gentle cleansing agent, designed to exfoliate the scalp and unclog pores without stripping its moisture.

Conditioner - Invigorating Moisturizer - Relieves itching, flaking, and replenishes moisture to restore softness and elasticity.

Daily Hydrator – Leave-in Conditioner – Lightweight and oil-free. Softens, shines, cools and refreshes!

I know, I am not the only one that likes for something to “feel” like it’s working. I mean honestly, most men are just this way. And, this is where Frederick Benjamin grooming, got it right! It cleans, moisturizes, and you know it!
